What is venturi?

Application of fertilizers in the active root zone of plants using Drip Irrigation is called as Fertigation. Apparatus used for the purpose of fertigation is known as venturi. Venturi works on Vacuum technology. 

What type of fertilizers can be given through venturi?

There are different kinds of fertilizers like granular, liquid and powder form. Each of this type can be given through the venturi provided that they should be completely soluble in water. Take an example of salt and sugar when we mix it with water after sometime they get completely dissolved in water without any residues left behind. Like this if fertilizers we want to apply through venturi if get completely dissolved in water then we can apply them easily in the root zone of plants via fertigation.  

It is found that in India many farmers use granular and liquid fertilizers which are easily soluble in water and can be applied through venturi easily. But in case powder form fertilizer it does not happen. If in future water soluble powder form fertilizers are prepared they also can be applied using venturi.
